These sparkling lakes entice over 20 000 flamingos every year and is quite an experience to be a part of!

An interesting and exciting activity to take part in, in this town is the annual Frogging Festival! Each year thousands of visitors and residents put their boots and raincoats on and scramble around in the mud trying to catch as many frogs as they can.

There are sandstone bridges and ruins along the countryside that can be viewed, some of which have interesting San rock paintings and engravings.

Another annual activity is the re-enactment of the Battle of Chrissiesmeer. Hundreds of enthusiasts dress up in the appropriate Imperial British and Republican Boer uniforms, and begin staging battles across the countryside.

For the more water-orientated visitor, the many surrounding lakes allow for other activities ranging from fishing to the various water sports.
